Hi, I’m Christina Jones

I work with busy café owners to help them prepare, list, and sell their businesses through the Six Steps to Sale program—supporting them every step of the way with real, experience-backed guidance.

My journey into hospitality started young—11 years old, working in my parents' bakery on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. From egg custard tarts to sourdough, I developed a love of food (especially eating it) and an early understanding of customer service and hard work.

Since then, I’ve worked across real estate, corporate FMCG roles (including Nestlé and Carlsberg in the UK), and eventually found myself doing what so many others have done—buying a run-down café and diving in headfirst. What could go wrong, right?

Quite a bit, actually. But I learned, adapted, and grew.

In just three years, I transformed Moorland Cottage Café into an award-winning business that doubled profits, reduced operating days, and won the 2023 Outstanding Visitor Experience Award for the Mid North Coast. But when it came time to sell, I realised I wasn’t prepared—and after four failed sales, I finally succeeded with the fifth.

That’s when I found GSE and the Six Steps to Sale program. I signed up because I knew I needed help. Looking back, I only wish I’d done it 12 months earlier.

One of the biggest eye openers for me was Step 3 – Valuing Your Business.

It taught me more about how to actually improve profitability than the $3,000 “exit strategy” I paid my accountant for. Just thinking about that still makes me furious—but it also drives home how important it is to get the right advice from someone who understands hospitality.

Having gone through the program myself, I now manage it. And that gives me a unique advantage: I see things from both sides—as a former seller and now as a coach...

I’ve lived the rollercoaster of selling a business, and I understand the overwhelm, the mistakes, and the emotional highs and lows.

My role now is to make that process easier for you. From helping you understand your financials and valuing your business, to qualifying buyers and navigating the paperwork—I’m here to make sure you don’t make the same mistakes I did.

I grew up in the food business, my parents owned two very successful restaurants and I remember working (or a least thinking I was) in them from a very early age. All through school I knew I wanted to go in to the hospitality industry and the day that I started at College could not come quick enough.

In 1993 I opened my first Cafe called “Hogarth’s” and that is really where it all began. 

Since then I have built up and sold nine food businesses and loved every minute (well most of it) and learnt a lot about how the sale process works.

When running and selling my businesses I always felt that there had to be a better way to get support throughout the journey and that is where GSE Business Consultants and The Six Steps to Sale have come from. 

I am now using the experience I gained in starting, running and selling all those businesses to help people like yourself to do the same. It works well for me as I am still involved in the industry and it helps my clients by them avoiding some of the mistakes that I made when selling my first couple of cafes – Win Win!
